Fanciful Macro Photography involves capturing extreme close-ups of small subjects in creative and imaginative ways, often highlighting unexpected textures, colors, and patterns.

Closet-Gear-Head (some-would-say professional vehicle photographer and freelance magazine content producer), retired biology professor, self-taught photographer and photo editor (Lightroom and Photoshop).

After retiring to Victoria-by-the-Sea Prince Edward Island from my Acadia University Biology Professor position, I decided to take some of my research images and colourize the grey-scale black and white images. The goal was to provide context to plant parts that are mere microns in size and invisible to the human eye until the mature entity opens in the spring or summer.

At the same time, I started noting interesting patterns in the various sea shells that washed up on the beaches in and around Victoria-by-the-Sea. I had dabbled in "ultra-macro" photography with insects and plant life, so I thought using sea shells, but modifying them in abstract ways with textures and layers, was interesting.

These are the musings of my "Fanciful Macro Photography."
